Discolored pubic hair

Our 19-year old son just told us that his pubic hair has changed color. His hair on his head is light brown, yet he claims that some of his pubic hair is white and orange??? He thinks it may be lack of air to that area, as he says they are hairs under his testicles. Can this be the case? Have you ever heard of such a thing???
