pain and swelling

i just had a tumor removed from my neck along my jaw just under my ear. it has been 3 days. i have swelling and pain. how long does the swelling take to go down. is there anything i can do to help? and minimize the pain

Some pain and swelling is the rule after surgery, and usually gets much better in a few days to a week. However, if you cannot control the pain with the medication prescribed to you for this purpose, or if the swelling gets worse, you should call your surgeon and ask for advice.
