View Full Version : Forgetfulness

I am concerned about my increasing forgetfullness, and decreasing ability to express myself verbally. Two years ago most people saw me as "on top of things" and someone who remembered everything and kept everyone else on track. Back then people also would say that I expressed myself very well and communicated well. Now, people often say that I forget things all the time--like within 20 seconds of hearing them. And I realize that I have been forgeting things more. And also, I don't seem to be able to express myself well. I can't find the words to explain myself properly, and I get my word order all messed up. And people can't follow my train of thought as much.
I don't know what this is, but I'm 25, and it seems like a significant difference for only a year and a half to two years ago. I don't seem to be able to think as clearly either.
I also get really tired suddenly at times, and then get over it, and then it happens again. I've had lots of headaches for years, but the quantity has increased as well. I'm really quite tired of not being able to remember things that used to be so easy for me before, and I'm tired of people not understanding what I'm trying to say. I go exercising every M-F, and I have a bedtime and a wake up time, and I do my best to get plenty of sleep, so I don't think it's because of sleep. And I don't think it's stress either, b/c really I'm not all that stressed. But I am concerned about this, even writing notes to myself doesn't help, b/c I hardly ever remember to write it down (I get distracted/forget right after I think it) and then if I do write it down, I don't remember to check or read it. And if I do manage to read it, then I still forget to do it half the time, b/c I forget once I get up to do something.
Is this a problem I should be concerned about? Mostly it's just tiring and frustrating, but I'm wondering if it could be a sign/symptom of something serious, and/or why it's even happening anyway. So what are your thoughts on this?

Hi and welcome,

Sorry to hear of your symptoms. This is something I would be very concerned about esp. being you are only 25yrs.old and you notice a change in your mental and speech and others notice as well. Mention your headaches also. If I were you I would be seen by my Dr. to discuss my concerns and for examination and testing and or too a referral to a specialist. Be seen asap and sorry I can't be of more help.
Good Luck,
