Hi,
I'm experiencing these symptoms and I'm scare they can be related to MS....I have a sensation of lump in throat that the doc said it is a spasm of the crycopharyngeal muscle, then I experienced acute dizziness and vertigo (maybe from medicine) but the most worrysome for me it is that I have a positive ANA (high). The reumatologist told me not to worry about it since all my other antibody were normal but I freaked out because of this. I had an Mri of the brain showing everything ok. Can these symptoms with ANA positive be related to multiple sclerosis?
Thank you for any answer. I really need one.
Bye:confused:

Hi,

I would believe your Dr. or have him do more testing.

Thank you for the link, very useful. All the other test I did came out negative for the other autoimmune disease, the only one that is not listed is the Multiple Sclerosis, that is why I'm worried now that I have balance problems.
I wonder if the ANA play a big role in this disease....

Dear Sabrina,

Your reumatologist will be able to explain why he took the ANA in the first place - surely not to diagnose MS.

In brief, your doctor thinks you do not have MS. Your MRI is normal (usually easily shows MS plaques). You're saying your dizziness and vertigo may have dealings with your medication - and their usual
explanation is not MS anyhow. Same applies with sensation of lump in throat (some doctors actually think it may have dealings with gastro-esophageal reflux and therefore treatment with anti-reflux medication may be warranted)

Therefore, it does sound very unlikely that you would have MS.
However, because of your persisting concerns, talk to your own doctors about your concerns, and feel free to ask about the above possibilities.
