Dizzyness after standing up from sitting down

Hello, i am a first year medical student, i used to live in texas and now i'm in jordan, i am eighteen years of age and i have a medical question.

For the months i was vegetarian and i lost about eighty pounds(about 40 kg) in three months and i started having this dizziness and blacking out for a few seconds(about 5 or 8) then i get back to normal this usually happend after i get up from sitting down or lieing down for more tha 10 min. and when i get up i get dizzy and black out followed with a banging headace and numbness throughout my whole body. I went to see a doctor and i had a blood test:

my hb=16.8
PCV=48.4
RBC=5.48

these were most of the results and after i consulted a doctor and said i have classical migrain but yet that dosen't explain my dizziness and blackouts. he put me on Rapidus=50mg and topamax 25mg for two months. ok that's for the headaces after but that dosn't expain the dizziness can you help me please?

You can have vertigo with migraines or as you'll see from the link many other things. I would ask your Dr. why you continue to have dizziness while on medication for migraines. How is your blood pressure doing?? Hypo/Hyperglycemic?? Make your Dr. aware of this , maybe more testing is in order. Best Wishes.

Hi,

Judging by your story your symptoms could could easily be due to vasovagal syncope, sometims described as "simple faint". This is the most common cause of fainting and can occur in otherwise healthy people - especially so after a massive weight loss and especially after rapidly standing up from lying down. This may cause orthostatic hypotension which is defined as a drop of 20mm Hg in systolic blood pressure and 10mm Hg diastolic blood pressure on standing, along with typical symptoms. These include light-headedness, darkening of vision, inability to remain upright.

However, it is not up to me to try to determine the cause of your symptoms, and while the above described scenario is possible, even likely, your own doctor has a hands-on type of information which I don't have. Thus, you should contact your own doctor and ask him to explain what he feels is the cause of your symptoms and if the scenario mentiond above is likely in your case.
