unusual penis spot

My ex-boyfriend has an odd round black thing on the shaft of his penis. It is about 5mm in diameter, black and sort of raised. He said it has never caused too much discomfort but sometimes becomes red and irrirated. It isn't like a mole though. He has had it as long as he can remember and will not go to the doctors. What could it be? He's 17 now. Am I at risk from anything from sleeping with him?

He should probably have it looked at to see if it warrants testing for a cancerous lesion or just a plain ole spot. If it has changes color, grown or become raised he should be seeing a Dr. He really should just be seen to find out. As far as you are concerned I'm not a Dr. but I don't think you can catch such a thing. Having protected sex every time would be the best thing. You may just want to make an appt. GYN for a physical and to put your mind at ease.
