I have noticed that my 22 year-old son does not have a 'normal' urge to urinate first thing in the morning. It's usually an hour or two before he does. When I asked him about it, he said he simply doesn't have to go. Every single person I know, male or female, has an urgent need to urinate as soon as they wake up. I am concerned that something medical may be wrong and would appreciate some guidance on whether or not I should actually be concerned. Thank you in advance, Lynn

Hello Lynn,
I would like to tell you that many people do not feel an urge to urinate first thing in the morning and that is indeed normal. But at the same time, it is not very common and more people do have the urge. Since it has come to your notice a careful observation and seeing a GP would be prudent to get your concerns addressed. Do monitor the fluid intake and make a note of the food items he has eaten in the last 24-48 hours before going to the GP. Also discuss the water intake; and his overall eating habits like his staple food items and eating time with the doctor.
