Good day, I'm a 23 year old female and have been having these abdominal cramps for so long that I can't accurately even tell you how many years. The pain that I get is in the middle just under my ribcage. The pains come and go at random times and sometimes I would go days without getting any cramps. I have noticed however that the pain goes away almost emediately when I lie down and comes back instantly when I get up again. I've tried everything from scopes for checking for ulcers, seen a dietitian, tried pills for IBS and spastic colons. No pain killers work either.. Any advice or ideas what this might be would greatly be appreciated! Thank you so much, Avril:confused:

Pain near the ribcage area may be caused by costochondritis, a condition which causes inflammation in the cartilages where the ribs join the breastbone. Lung conditions such as pleurisy or swelling of the linings of the lung.

Patients with gallstones may also complain of pain in the upper abdominal area.
