Hi. I have been on birth control for many years. I quit taking the pill in 2001 to get pregnant with my son and got back on after he was born in July 2002. I had no issues when I quit. It took about 2 months to get back to normal. In those two months, I had light spotting between periods. In December 2006 I decided to try the birth control patch. I took it for two months and stopped when I realized how many ads there were for the side effects. Anyway, I only it took it two months and decided I didn't want to take any hormonal birth controls anymore. The first month of no birth control, I had no period. The second month, I had a regular period with a couple of days of spotting. In May I started my period on the 2nd and I have been bleeding every day since. Some days it's light spotting all day, and other days I actually have to use tampons. Does anyone know if it is normal for this start 3 months after quitting birth control or if it is something I should be concerned about? Thanks.

I don't know if it is normal but when I came off of the patch I had similar problems. I didn't have a period for 2 1/2 months and then I had one every two weeks for a while and they varied from heavy bleeding to spotting. After about six months they started to become more normal and about five months after that I became pregnant. Maybe give the doctor a call or talk to the nurse in the office. They will be able to reassure you and let you know if it is normal for you or not.
