This is a very hard thing to handle here. My grandfather who is 78 years old, recently been diagnosed with Orthostatic hypotension. His problem arises from the quick standing from sitting position. sitting it is 120/70 standing it drops to 70/45.........but when he stands up and blood pressure drops, it looks like he is trapped in a bad dream and does very weird things and has no memory what so ever of them. and the episodes can last like 20 minutes. he exhibits all the symptoms of Orthostatic hypotension almost word for word expect the "Nightmare dream" part. he doesnt have parkisons. He started getting these bad and hospilizing symptoms and they also found he has a bladder infection. has anyone lived with this disease or know anything thats not cruising the web that can be of assistance? this is the most sad thing to watch happen to my grandfather. in the middle of him clenching his fists and trembling and holding his chest, he said " what is happening to me" then went back into what seemed to be a bad dream non coherent. HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi. Here's a blog entry about orthostatic hypotension: http://www.drjoshua.com/2009/09/13/episodes-of-vision-changes-and-other-symptoms/

Managing orthostatic hypotension would depend on the underlying problem. People who are likely to suffer from othostatic hypotension are advised to refrain from standing up rapidly and standing up for long periods.

Confusion may occur with orthostatic hypotension, however, this symptom may also present in other disorders.

Incoherent speech may indicate neurological problems. This may occur after experiencing a seizure. The best thing that you can do to help your grandfather is to bring him to his doctor for examination.
