foot surgery or not?

Hi, 7 months ago I broke my 5th metatarsal and the Dr. said it was in a "bad location" but decided to allow time to heal it. Two cast, crutches for 6 weeks, walking cast 5 more weeks he feels the bone is starting to fill in. Finally after 7 months and yet anohter x-ray he admits it never healed. What do I do now, seek surgery let it alone, wait untill it really hurts bad again? I'm 51 years old and feel that I'm fairly active from golfing to cutting firewood and I would love some input from others thank you.......( he released me and I guess it's up to me)

Hi Rick. Welcome to the forum. I think that your doctor is still the best person to ask regarding treatment options. He knows the extent of damage on your metatarsal and he can tell you whether surgery would help improve your condition.
