I am a 26 year old male.I have been
experiencing extreme pain in my shoulder when
playing baseball. I went to a doctor about 2
years ago and he said i was suffering from an
impingment.I asked if i could keep playing and
he told me that i couldnt make it any worse. So i
went the rest of the season just gritting my
teeth and chucking the baseball.I figured if i
wasnt doing any further damage then i could
deal with the pain. After that season i got a job
in another state and took the year off from
baseball.I rested my shoulder for almost a year
and a half.I returned to playing ball this year
and guess what, my shoulder is extremely
worse then it was previously. The pain is even
worse and i have almost no power.Sometimes if
i throw for a while it starts to feel slightly
better.I was just wondering if you had any
advice or any idea what is wrong?I read
something about nerve problems near the neck
causing shoulder problems.Once while playing
football i collided really hard with another
player and i couldnt feel my arm. I was told
that it was just a stinger and the feeling came
back in a couple minutes. After that i went to a
chiropractor a couple of times and he was
working on a pinched nerve in my upper
back.Could this be the problem? Or does it
sound more like a rotator cuff tear, or was my
other doctor correct in saying it was an
impingment.I dont have insurance and cant
afford an mri.I am no longer able to play
shortstop because i cant make the throw.I just
want my arm back.Any advice you could give
would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

I'm not a Dr. but I think you should be seen by an othropedic surgeon to check out this impingement. Since you are having loss of power and other symptoms you need to be seen and x-rays taken for a diagnosis.

Thanks for your reply.I originally did have my arm looked at and xrayed.Thats when I was told that I couldnt make it any worse by playing. But now it is severley worse.Even after taking a year off.I know a probably need an mri and surgery but i cant afford it.I was just hoping I could get some possible diagnosis.Could it be a nerve problem? A torn rotator cuff? Just an impingment(i doubt it)?Any information, eve if just a guess, would be appreciated.Thank you
