I went to the emergency room on Sunday (5-2-10), for severe upper right abdominal pain. At first the doctor thought that I might have gallstones but because there was no ultrasound tech there they couldn't be sure. Once they got my labs back the doctor changed his diagnosis and thought that I most likely had an Ulcer. But just to be safe scheduled an outpatient ultrasound on Tuesday. Once the ultrasound was completed the tech asked me to wait in the waiting room then about five minutes later she walked me right down to the ER; Once I was callled I was informed that I have an enlarged spleen and gallstones. Bit that none of the gallstone were blocking ducks so that the two were probally not related. So they sent me home with meds (zofran and vicoprofen) neither of which are doing anything to help me.I am still vomitting and in more pain. should I return to the ER or wait for consult next Friday?

I haven't found the ER to be a fourth as helpful as a gastroenterologist, so I would see if you can get referred to one. They can better evaluate gallbladder and intestinal issues than any ER doctor could.
