I recently had some routine bloodwork done with a new PCP; lipid, CBC, metabolic, as well as thyroid panels. Everything came back 100% normal, except my lipids, which are:

Total cholesterol: 112
HDL: 53
LDL (direct): 29 (L, RR 30-129)
VLDL: 14
TG: 72

I've never heard of "low" LDL before. My doctor says I'm going to live forever, even though this is the lowest LDL she's ever seen, and I know my mother has at least good numbers, but in googling LDL, it appears as though mine is extraordinarily low. Is this something of concern since my AST and ALT are ok (18 & 16), all my blood counts are fine, and there don't seem to be any protein abnormalities (Alb 4.9, A/G ratio 2.0)?

If it's of interest, I'm male, 29, exercise daily, eat well, and have a BMI around 22.

I think that, It is basically a steroid and is synthesized in the body as well as ingested as food. Choelsterol does not dissolve in the blood, and has to be carried to and from cells by lipoproteins. A low cholesterol diet is not hard to follow, given the variety of foods available. You should use low fat or skim dairy products instead of regular, full-fat ones.
