Knee pain

Hi there. I am a 25 year woman, 5'5 and 105lbs. About 2 months ago, I was walking down the stairs and both my knees began to hurt, a lot. The pain was all around both my knees. This continued for a few days, then suddenly disspeared.

It came back 2 weeks later, but only in my right knee. I was kneeling down and when I stood up, my knee hurt so badly, I had to sit down.

It went away again after a few days.

Now, it comes and goes, a few days it will hurt, then go away for a week or so. The pain is located all around my knee, it usually feels like it's where the femur meets the knee, feels like where there is tissue, not the bone itself. It only hurts when I stand up from kneeling, and again, this comes and goes.

Could this be arthritis? It runs in my family.

I have not had any injury to the knee(s).

Thank you for your question. Arthritis is a possibility that I cannot exclude over the Internet. Knee pain is a common complaint and often resolves spontaneously. However, if it persists, you should see your doctor and have a proper physical examination done.
