Is it normal to have a few petechiae? I have some scattered individually around my arms (I haven't checked the rest of my body yet, but I'm fairly certain I have some in other places), no clusters, just individual dots. I found out I had them a few years ago. So far the only other symptoms I know that's related to them is one time, while I was sitting in class maybe two years ago, I saw, or think I saw, a blood vessel pop. I felt pain where it was, almost like an ant bite, then I saw a something small and red pop. It was gone as quickly as it appeared, but the pain stayed for a while after. It left a mark, but it disappeared. I just want to find out if I need to have this checked, or if it can be because of the stress (and I've been stressed a lot these part years). Help anyone?

Ppetechiae commonly occurs when the platelet count is low. Platelets are the blood cells responsible for blood clotting. Abnormally low platelet count can be observed in autoimmune disorders, viral infections, bone marrow disorders and infection of the bloodstream.

I think you should see your doctor for physical examination and possible diagnostic tests that will help identify what has been causing your symptom. Good luck.
