In October 2009, I was in an accident. I broke my tibula and I had an oblique fracture of my 5th metatarsal. I required surgery to fix my 5th metatarsal. This happened in late October.

The surgery on my 5th metatarsal was fine. I started walking again in mid december. I also start physio around this time.

I had my last appointment with the fracture clinic about two weeks ago and I was informed that my Tibula fracture actually never completely healed, and it is "floating". I was told that if it didn't hurt me that I shouldn't worry. At the time it didn't hurt at all, however, in the last week, I have been getting large pain when my ankle is in certain positions.

Should this floating bone be a cause of concern? Should I go back to the fracture clinic, or is this something that I am just going to have to get used too?

Thanks in advance. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you should go back to the clinic just to be sure. It is important to find out whether your current symptoms are caused by the tibula fracture or by other conditions. Good luck.
