I'm 31 years old, female, 5'4, 132 pounds and very physically active (run 1/2 marathons). 2 1/2 months ago, I started experiencing a dull ache under my upper rib cage on the left side. The ache has spread down to the lower left side of my rib cage. I also experience pain in my left shoulder blade. The pain varies each day in intensity but some days worse than others but overall, it never goes away.
I've been to the dr. 3 different times. Twice to my family practice dr and once to a gastro dr. Both did not express any real concern since I didn't have any blood in my stool, no loose stools, no constipation, etc. I had my annual physical two weeks ago and results of my cholesterol and glucose tests were sent to me. I have borderline high Blood Lipids (231) and above normal Glucose (101) after a 12 hour fast. Last years results were perfect. I have a feeling my pain and these poor test results are related. I was told to try Prilosec which doesn't seem to help at all. At times I wake up in the middle of the night feeling yucky because of the pain.
I'm so frustrated and know my body very well...this pain is NOT normal for me. I'm making another dr. appointment this week with a different dr but would like some ideas or suggestions to make at my appointment. I've forgotten what it feels like to be "normal." I still work out cuz it makes me feel great and look forward to finding a remedy to my issue. I'm tired of using ibuprophen as a bandaid for my pain which never really takes the pain completely away.
