suffering from sore throat

Dear all,
I'm 33 years old woman and have been suffering from sore throat. in recent years I had a severe caugh that could,nt be cured untill the use of a inhalar for four weeks.doctor said that I have got phlegm on my both side of the throat and also he said a operation has to be done for that.some times atones my throat go dries and difficult to breath.
normally i drink hot water and steaming done regularly.
please help me to explain why this happen, whats that operation, how to prevent suffering from this sore throat pain.

Hi aupalia,

Welcome to the forum. Just curious are you seeing an ENT Dr. and what kind of surgery. You menton phlegm but yet your throart is dry. Has your Dr. told you exactly what is causing the phlegm? I think I would ask the Dr. these specific questions as he knows you and has examined you. I'm not a Dr. and would only be guessing with such little information.
