Are there any effective ways of treating post nasal drip? I prop my head up on pillows at night but it doesn't help, still wake up coughing really hard spitting up mucus, w) is making my throat itchy & sore, I'm weezing in my neck, having upper chest pain/pressure, and have started breathing heavy during the day. I'm using Robittusin but that is only controlling the cough. If you have chronic congestion from your nasal passages w) is not responsive to medications, will post nasal drip even be treatable?

Its important to distinguish if you have just post nasal drip or an upper respiratory infection going on. A Dr. can make that judgement by examination. There are medications to help with allergy. If you are having any chest discomfort and congestions you need to see your Dr. Upper respiratory infections not treated can lead to pneumonia etc.

Good Luck,

Often, sinusitis causes postnasal drip. Sinusisis should be excluded and if found, properly treated with drainage and/or antibiotics. Causes for possible recurrent sinusitis should be evaluated, including anatomical causes such as septum deviation, and treated with surgery if indicated. Allergies are a common cause of recurrent sinusitis, and the doctor may order nasal corticosteroids as a preventive measure. Talk to your Dr about these things

It's not sinusitis. I had a CT and they was clear. It showed a mild deviation, some swelling in the middle of the septum, turbinate hypertrophy on one side with the middle turbinate curving the wrong way, swelling & blocking my nasal passages on that side. Can that even explain why I have chronic congestion & get blocked up on both sides of my nose? I even have blood mixed in the mucus all of the time. I have to use a nasal airflow dilator so I can breathe better. I've tried everything including steroids, doesn't help much. But my ENT didn't want to do surgery. I figure it might be allergy related cause I sneeze alot and my nose gets itchy & burns. I am extremely sensitive to heat too, it makes my nasal problems ten times as bad. I think the chest pain may actually be coming from my reflux because I'm having severe symptoms again.
