Have you ever been warned not to sleep when full especially if you ate something heavy and hard to digest like rice? Sme people have warned me of the dangers when eating full: you can get hemorrhagic pancreatitis. Is that true? If not, does sleeping when full have any dangers at all?

Hi chessaf,

Heres a link on pancreatitis:

As far as laying down after you have eaten would all depend on you and your medical history of course. I know its not good for heartburn (gastric reflux disease )etc. Also eating a large meal late in the day, then sleeping on it with no further exercise is not good when your trying to lose weight.
Best to ask your Dr. his opinion.

I think so because when your asleep only few parts of your body is working. There are also rumors that sleeping when your stomach is full is possibly lethal.

^I heard about that too, but they say that the reason behind that is the pancreas is also supposed to rest at night, and a heavy meal before going to bed will give more workload to the pancreas and eventually cause pancreatitis. But then again the people who said that aren't medical doctors.

Based on my readings, the major causes or hemorrhagic pancreatitis are excessive alcohol intake and biliary stone disease. Maybe those who die in their sleep due to hemorrhagic pancreatitis were not aware that they had gallstones.
