I recently lost my dad (Nov. 15th,2009) to Massive Internal bleeding due to cirohssis of the liver from alcoholism. He had gotten deathly sick for 3 weeks(or at least that I know of,cause knowing how my dad is,he may of been sick longer, but didn't want to worry anybody)straight. He could not keep any food or fluids down at all, cause it would come out both ends. His symptoms were vomiting(with blood in it),diarrha(which looked like black tar, which I was told is another sign of internal bleeding & liver failure),his belly was swollen so badly,it looked as though he was pregnant with triplets, his legs were also swollen badly too,he was also extremely weak,& his skin & eyes turned yellow in the end too.The doctor who performed my dads autopsy told me that my dad died from the massive internal bleeding itself,as well as he bled down into his intestines too.But my overall question is "How long would my dad of had to of bled internally before it would of killed him,& how long was my dad sick like he was really? Also if he would of went to the hospital the last week of his life, would there of been anything that the doctors could of done for him to save his life,or would they have just said, look it's to late,& he's only got a few days to live?(Cause my dad is the type of person who would not of told any of us,when he first had gotten sick, because he wouldn't want any of us to worry or get upset)Cause I find it odd, that he bled internally for only 3 weeks,& was as sick as he was for 3 weeks outta nowhere like that. There had to of been some point where,my dad started to slowly get sick,& his health slowly started to fade the way it did.If there are any doctors or nurses out there who could help me,It would be greatly appreciated!!
