Dr. Joshua,
I swallowed a small fish bone two day ago. I've tried everything from eating a ball of rice, white bread, drink lots of water, and banana, but still didn't dislodge the fish bone. However, I can eat, breath, and swallow normally. It doesn't hurt or anything, but I want to know if it let it stay there will I still doing ok or I have to get that bone out? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks

Hi sweetserenity,
This has happened to me after eating sea bass last week. It was very annoying to say the least. I finally had my husband search for it and he removed it with tweezers. Mine was a very thin bone. I don't know about yours but I would have it removed by a dr if you can't see it to do yourself, and it could dislodge on its own and get stuck somewhere eles.
Good Luck,

Thank you purple98lady. I don't have medical insurance so I've a chance to go the school nurse and she told me that give it a few days and it'll dissolve on it's own. If it's still there then go to the E.R., but can you tell me how much will it costs to see a doctor there? I wonder if it's safe to wait for a little bit longer...

I never heard of them disolving, maybe they just passed in that case. I think if you still have this bone lodged, ask the nurse to look for it or better yet go be seen. It could get lodged further down or in your airway, then it would be a emergency. Just tell the er you can't pay it all now and about billing you. They will see you esp. being in your thoart, and the possibility of airway obstruction.
Good Luck,
