I was recently told by my PC Dr that a gastric emptying study showed a 'marked delay in gastric emptying', but other than that he had no information for me.
He said that I would probably need a 'gastric pacemaker', but once again, that was about the extent of the information he shared.
I have not been able to keep down medications for almost two years now (I have severely fluctuating labile BP, sinus and v-tach, hypothyroid) and have been losing weight steadily for two years.
Most days eating or drinking is a chore because it feels like the food is just stacking up in my throat with noplace to go.
The only medication I can still tolerate is an OTC antacid (1000 mg tablets) and I end up taking 15-40 of them a day to try to manage the nausea, cramping, discomfort, bloating and other issues.
I have searched high and low on the internet and can't for the life of me find out what a 'marked delay' means... is that mild? moderate? severe?
I have a six month wait to get back to my specialist, but if this test shows that it is the cause of all my troubles I will try to get into a different specialist sooner, but I have no idea if it is serious or not.
