Hi, I am a 41 year old female who has had a host of health problems since Dec. 2005. It all started with a headache and stomach "churning" and nausea. This lasted several months. Daily GI upset as well as headaches. I was prescribed Prontonix and even was given Carafate.
In May of 2006, the GI/headaches suddenly disappeared and I started having intense bladder pain symptoms. After a short hospital stay, I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis and prescribed Elmiron, Atarax, and a UTA capsule. I got relief from the harsh symptoms that first occured, but was still having a degree of pain daily. I was also given a bladder "cocktail" that was injected into my bladder.
In Aug. 2006, the bladder pain left suddenly and I was again was plagued with GI upset..nausea and diarrhea. Two weeks later I begin having the daily headaches that accompanied the original onset of symptoms in Dec.2005.
In Sept. 2006, I noticed one day that I was short of breath. This came and went and then by the end of Oct.2006, the shortness of breath became a constant presence.
I was diagnosed with Migraines and Myofascial pain in the face, jaw and neck in Oct. 2006 and was given Darvocet as needed and Phengran. I was put on a PT regimen with a PT therapist and did that until the beginning of Jan 2007.
I have been to the ER repeated times...have even had a heart catherization. Underwent an endoscopy in Dec. 2006 which showed inflammation of the stomach and esophagus. Was put on Nexium twice daily. I have had every procedure you can think of....Pulmonary embolism test, thyroid, chest and neck x-rays, barium swallow, manometrics test. Have even been seen for allergies. That showed that I am moderately allergic to gluten/wheat. I have modified my diet, but am still having problems.
The shortness of breat is all the time and I feel the sensation of having a dog collar around my neck. I also feel like a lump/globus sensation in my throat. When I take a deep breath, I feel as though my GI system all the way up to my mouth in in manual instead of automatic. Like a car without power steering. I feel a numbness in my throat that extends to the roof of my mouth and my tongue aches sometimes due to the feeling of choking.
I have been treated for anxiety to no avail. Have ubdergone Pulmonary function tests which only revealed slight brochospasm.
These symptoms of shortness of breath are constant. The choking sensation occures 95% of the time and I also experience myofascial?? pain in my jaw and neck. It feels like a GI issue, but I have been tested for everything and all it reveals is inflammation.
Why am I not getting any relief from this. This dictates my life and I have no quality of life. All I want is my life back! I am on a exercise regimen as well as taking the drug Elavil to try to relax my muscles. The manometrics test showed no problems with my swallowing, eventhough my GI doctor suspected it may be esophagal spasms. I also feel at times as if something is sitting on my diaphram. I was told I have a very small hiatal hernia that would not create these symptoms. Again, the best way to decribe this is a car that is without power steering from the diaphram to my mouth along with a numbness sensation.
Has anyone ever heard of these bizarre symptoms?? Please help....this is ruining my life. All I want is my life back. Please help!! Thank you and God bless.
