Nearly three months ago, I received a flu shot in my left arm. I don't know that the pain, I am experiencing is related or not. It just started about that time and has not let up.
The pain,in my upper arm, is sharp and intense, when I raise my left arm, to put a shirt or coat on. Sudden movements can be painful and linger for a few seconds. The pain will wake me up at night and sometimes is throbbing. As long as my left arm, is down and near my side, I don't have any pain.
I have not experienced any injury. I am right handed. I am fifty-four years old.
What could be causing this pain ? Do I need to see an orthopedic surgeon? Who should I start with, in the way of, a doctor.

Local complications of vaccination are rare, but possible. This can also be unrelated to the shot. See your primary care physician, if that doesn't solve it, a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulders might be needed.
