hello I have a question I had a dnc done and the pathology report was
endometrial curettings:
fragments of endometrial polyp.
disordered proliferative endometrium with anovulatory features and stromal and glandular breakdown.
no evidence of complex hyperplasia or malignancy.
ok I understand that there is no cancer there but what does the rest mean?

also I had a dermoid removed and it was malignant struma ovarii with papillary carcinoma they told me that it was thyroid tissue. now I know that they say it is not comon for dermoids to be cancerus but my question is if it did not spread would that mean that when they removed the dermoid that I would no longer have cancer? or what? would I still have to have treatment? I just went for the blood test yesterday I found out yesterday. also if I do go for treatment do you know if they use chemo (sp)? I know it sounds crazy to worry about losing your hair but I just am

I'm not an expert on this stuff, but apart from not having cancer, the pathology report sounds like normal endometrial tissue in a certain phase of its monthly cycle. If you have had a malignant tumor and if, as you say, the tumor has been removed in its entirety and not spread, then by definitioin you would have cancer no more. In reality, malignant tumors are followed up regularly up to a certain number of years (this varies with cancer types) or, in some cases, indefinitely. As for whether or not you should have chemo is an issue you'll have to discuss with your oncologist. Losing your hair temporarily should not be a factor in this decision. It'll grow back. Best of luck, and keep us posted!
