i'm 3 months pregnant and started bleeding and losing tissue one evening after sex. i went to the hospital, they said it was a partial spontaneous abortion, but after looking at the ultrasound we saw that baby was healthy and strong so everything would be ok, but i needed to be careful. i was kept for observation for 2 days, then put on bedrest for 1 week. the doctor also said no sex until after delivery. i live in a foreign country, so language and cultural barriers are often a problem and i do a lot of my own research (i try to ask my dr's here, but rarely get the answers i need...especially when i ask about sex!). from my reading i understand that the cervix is extra sensitive and that may have caused the bleeding and tissue loss, so my question is, does "no sex" just mean no penetration, or no everything, including orgasms?

Thank you for your question. Please see a previous answer on this topic:

I do recommend that you pose this question to your own doctor - I do not have the necessary information to give you personalized advice.

Generally, caution should be exercised and if you have had a close call, and your doctors recommend "no sex", I would advise to take the advice literally, no sex of any kind, at least until your own doctor gives you the green light.
