Questions concerning Nipple Pain

I am a 42 yr old female in good health, other than the normal aging process.

For the past three months I have been having sever (well at least very uncomfortable) burning sensation in my right nipple. I do sleep on my stomach and side at night.
I really do not want to go to the doctor about this however I am now getting concerned, as the pain is not subsiding.
Is this a normal thing that happens and am I being over Paranoid?

Hi Katie, thanks for your question. I recommend that you see your doctor about this. Any persistent breast symptom in a woman needs to be assessed and the breasts examined. Women your age should have a mammography regularly even when there are no symptoms. It's not necessarily anything serious, but you need to see your doctor to make sure.
