I have Chronic ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura), and in a few weeks I will be having a laparoscopy for endometriosis.
I know with Chronic ITP there is plenty of medications, Rx and OTC that I should avoid, and I do try with most of them. I just wanted to know if there is anything specific that I currently take that I should stop a few days or weeks before the surgery as a precaution. Here is what I take everyday:
Ibuprofen - 800mg/4-6 hours as needed
Acetaminophen - 2000mg/4-6 hours as needed
Yaz birth control
Fish oil supplements - 1000mg/day
Vitamin B-Complex - 1/day
Vyvanse - 90mg/day (morning)
Adderall-IR - 20mg/day (afternoon)
I take Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen together every 4-6 hours as needed for pain from endometriosis - it works better for than any narcotic pain reliever I have tried. One or the other by itself or at smaller doses does not work either.
I know Ibuprofen is considered an anti-inflammatory, and I should avoid it with ITP, but I don't. I hope not to need it anymore after the surgery, or at least not as much.
If I should stop taking the Ibuprofen, how long before the surgery would make it easier on my body to deal with the surgery and the clotting/etc.?
If you need any other information please feel free to ask.
Thank you,
Cari
