First off just wanted to compliment this great and informative medical help forum site. Maybe I can find some help or education for my intestinal problem. I have had quite a few stomach virus' over the years according to my doctors dianosis. It seems that now I almost can prescribe it before I go to see her. I was recently dianosised with colitis and the doctor prescribed Entocort EC for it. Before I found out I had it my stools were loose all the time for a long time, meaning years. This medication seemed to straighten it all out and I became normal for the first time in I don't know when. On top of that I have temporal lobe seizures and have been taking tegrotol for that since 1979 and I had figured that had something to do with my loose stools to begin with. However, it seems like I have another stomach virus again! Of course I will go see my doctor today to verify that, but is there some reason why my intestinal tract is subject to get these virus'? Does it have to do with the medications or what? Also I was wondering about the bad or after effects of using this entocort. Thanks for any help I can get.

Hello pjcmalways,

Welcome to our forum. I was reading your post and I was wondering if the virus you speak of is a flare up of your colitis. I don't know which type you have but your welcome to search it via AskDr.Joshua.com. I do know your diet plays an important part of this condidtion and your flare ups.
Here is an outside link to Encocort: which should be taken exactly as prescribed.

Hope that helps some. I'm a big believer in eating yogurt for the healthy bacteria our colons need.;)
