About 2 months ago I started felling sick all the time. I have a pain in my left breast area, extreme fatigue, coughing, mild hair loss, and just generally feel horrible every day. I've had chest x-rays and a spiometry test. Both came back ok, but i still have all the symptoms. At first my md thought it was bronciatis, but after being treated for that nothing has changed. I also had a TB test, which came back negative. Since all this has started, my md has moved, and the doc taking her place is trying to say this is just depression, that it's all ln my head. I'm not depressed about anything, and I know my body, and it's telling me somethings not right. A friend suggested that I may have lupus. Is this possible? I would appriciate any help so I could show this to my md. I should also add that i'm 38, smoke but am trying to quit. Thank you!

Hi darlene49013,

Did your physician prescribe any medications for depression? Sometimes we can be depressed and not even know that is what it is, it will show itself with physical problems. Same is true with anxiety disorders, and the physical symptoms are very real. Lupus is sometimes hard to diagnosis and there is a criteria of symptoms to be met and several tests. You could certainly discuss this with your Dr. to see what he/she thinks on the matter.
Then there is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Are you able to sleep and do you feel refreshed after sleeping? This could be many things. I think your best bet would to have a long discussion with your physician and ask if you should consider being tested for other things to rule them out.

Above all take care of yourself, eat well, plenty of rest and do things you enjoy. You can search about illnesses via Ask Dr Joshua main site. Good Luck to you and welcome to the forum.
