i have a son that will be three in july and is very small. he is in the 5th percentile for height and weight, but was in the 25th from birth to about 12 months. it has consistently decreased from there. his doctors don't seem to be too concerned, but i am. he snores in his sleep and pretty much always has. im wondering if he may have sleep apnea? is that a hereditary condition? i am also worried about hypothyroid. im wondering if i should be concerned about these conditions so i know what to address at his upcoming doctor appointment. are there any other condidtions that i should be concerned about as far as poor growth? he is almost three and just now wearing 24mo/2T clothes.

Hi,

Often times children just don't always seem to fit the chart and may be of short stature which is in herited or of genetic factors. Its important your seeing pediatrician atleast to ask all your questions regarding. See if he/she feels the need for referral to maybe an endocrinologist or even for further testing or lab work. Tell the dr. too about all your childs eating habits as well. Good Luck
