Hi, I'm new here, and can not seem to find any real answers on the internet, and have not gone to see a doctor yet.
This is what is happening.. It seems to be, after a hard workout, or stress, mostly after working out..if my heart rate gets high, or alot of adrenaline pumping, that my eyes start to itch and swell up underneath..
Anyone know what might be causing this... It seems to happen more when i am working out than any other time.. the time before this one, which happend last night... was a few months ago at a bar... i had a couple of beers at a birthday party, and immediatly i could feel my going to swell up... and it did...it last about 2-3 days...It is so frustrating, looks like someone punched me without the black and blue marks...
Help :)

Hi Melissalv29

Welcome to the forum. Gee I really don't know why. You have two different times this happens doing two entirely different things. Do you have allergies that you know of. Sometimes allergies are hard to pin point with out testing. I did have itchy eyes while working out and only at this gym, I concluded it was a dusty gym or the cleaner they used you could smell it. I changed gyms bingo it stopped. In the bar its hard to say if it was the beer or the maybe smokey atmosphere. Since I'm not a Dr i just don't know if this has anything to do with increasing your heart rate. Maybe a trip to your Dr too is a good idea. Good luck

it has happened many times at the gym...but different gyms...and not all the time...when i really do a hard workout... and can feel my heartrate get up there... that's when i notice it... so that is why i think it has something to do with a histamine or horomone being released when my adrenaline is going...

My first guess would be allergies. When this swelling happens, try to write down what you were doing during the past 1h or so, what products you were using (shampoos etc), what food / drinks /supplements, which clothes did you wear, were you sweating a lot, and so on. Maybe a culprit might be found this way. If there seems to be a pattern, try to eliminate one thing from the list at a time, see if it helps. If the symptom persists, see your doctor.

Hi Melissa....I have encountered the same problem with my eyes for about 10-15 years. I have searched for answers online as well as asking several eye doctors. In fact, I was looking for answers tonight (after another episode)when I found your post. Sadly, I still don't have a good answer. Any time I overexert myself physically (usually running very fast or working out harder than usual), one or both eyes may begin to tingle and then swell within an hour or so. It usually goes down within a day or so. I'm quite sure it has nothing to do with allergies. It's some sort of physical response to overexertion and increased heartrate - fluid accumulating under the eye or swelling. It fortunately has not led to any long-term problems, only an infrequent annoyance.
