Hi, my name is Kris and I am an 18 year old female. I have been experiencing severe nausea, sometimes vommiting or just gagging, dissyness, confusion, shakyness, abdominal pain, hallucinations, and anxiety problems for about 4 years now. It all started when i got a bad bout of Mono wich i was ill with for 7 months! I have had all of the GI tests done( ultrasound, bloodwork, many urine samples, upper GI, x-rays, endoscopy, gastric emptying test->showed slow digestion<-) I had my appendics out when i was 16, and got VERY SEVERLY ill after surgery (severe nausea and vommitting, lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks, psychosis) I ended up spiraling out of control for about a year with psychiatric problems, mainly suicide and hallucinations aswell as self-harm (cutting/burning). I was in and out of the hospital, on 100 different meds wich made it all worse but no one believed me. I have now been off of the meds for one year and since then i have only had 3 "attacks" as stated above. Those attacks occured from either taking cold medicine or not eating right (I think so atleast). All of those tests I had came back normal (excluding gastric emptying). I am now trying to work with a new family doctor in diagnosing Acute Intermittent Porphyria. I have found a doctor in Hamilton, Ontario who has the right knowledge to diagnose me with it since no doctor here in London, Ontario does. This doctor has requested "more proof" before he accepts the refferal. Can anybody help me in understanding how to go about this situation?
