Pain below ribs?

I keep getting a pain below my right side of my ribs, the pain sometimes only lasts a few mins but other times it can stay for a few hours. When i move about it hurts more. I went to the doctor a few years ago because i had it and the doctor said its just muscle pain. It gets really painful sometimes. Could it just be muscle pain again or something else?
