Lump Behind Ear!!

Hello Dr Joshua,
I am 13 years old and have a lump at the back of my earlobe. I have
had this for about 6 months now, i have had this lump ever since my
friend pierced my ears for me by herself. I have taken the second
holes that she pierced for me out. It has grown to an oval sort of
shape. I went to the doctors a few weeks ago and she said it isn't
anyting to worry about, but i can't help it. It is skin colour and
hurts when i push it. I have got an appointment to see a plastic
surgeon, but i am very worried about the results. Do you have any
idea about what it could be? ???

I'm not a Dr. but I can tell you I've seen several ears of people who let friends pierce or tried to do this to themselves, not a nice site. Most are lucky with no ill effects. Many end up with lumps and growths the correct term I don't know maybe scar tissue, infection etc. The good thing is you are going to a plastic surgeon and I'm sure your results will be good. My advice is don't let anyone do this to you again, get them done by a professional, even some Dr.s still pierce ears. Its just not worth the risk. Sounds like it's probably due to scar tissue /cheloid formation, common in teenage girls and young women. I'm happy that you have an appointment with a plastic surgeon - he'll be able to answer all your questions.
