Lower stomach pain and lump

My husband recently noticed a small lump on his lower back directly to the right of his spine. Additionally, he has been having pains in the lower right side of his abdomen that continue on through his side. About two years ago he thought he might have had a hernia, but did nothing about it and there really isn't anything on his stomach, there's only the lump on his back. He's never had any health issues until this came up. He's only 25 and he never gets sick. Only difference in his health is that he has gained a little weight in the past year. Any help or suggestions on what it possibly could be great. He JUST got medical insurance about the time we discovered this so it worries us to go to the doctor right away.

Lower right abdominal pain may be related to any of the following conditions: kidney stones, diverticulitis, appendicitis tumors, and inguinal hernias. I'm afraid that the only suggestion that I could make is for your husband to talk to his doctor. It's good to know the possible causes of symptoms, but a physician's assessment and evaluation are more important.
