I am 27 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I have a tub with all the whirlpool jets. I was in the whirlpool and accidentally sat on one of the jets upon which the cover is missing so it puts out a lot stronger jet than the others. the jet was directly in my vaginal area. I am now afraid that i could get an air embolism from this. Is this possible and if so, what do i do? I feel completely foolish calling my doctor and asking about it, but i am now terrified that something could happen.

Hi anniebeck,
Don't think this would cause an air embolism since the air has to be in your blood stream directly or as a result of trama.

I agree with purplelady. Embolism happens when a direct communication between a source of air and the vasculature must exist and a pressure gradient favoring the passage of air into the circulation (rather than bleeding from the vessel) must be present.
But I do advice you to be extra careful next time to avoid accidents that might harm you and your baby.
