hello, just registered today,i've been reading these posts for quite some time.
i've had a problem with feet pain for a couple weeks. primarily the feet feel weak around the ankles, with numbness at times on the soles, pain in the big toes, burning sensations down back of legs, have had calf cramps, and strangely,a buzzing sensation down my legs into my feet, which is more prevalent when twisting the hips or bending over and especially when massaging the lower back around the tailbone.when i press on that area or rub it, its like i can feel the nerves vibrating. i've heard it could be the sciatic nerve..but can the sciatic nerve cause pain in the feet as well as legs?

Hi painful1,
Yes, sciatica can cause pain into your feet. Depending on what nerve root is being irritated, the pain will follow a particular path. If indeed what you're experiencing is sciatica, pain in the big toe suggests L5 impingement. Are you having back pain presently? Talking to a doctor about this is important, because even it is sciatica, that constitutes a symptom and not a diagnosis, so you still need to find out what is causing your symptoms. There are also similar conditions that mimic sciatica, so you need to be seen to find out what's going on for sure. Best of luck and keep us posted!

thx for the fast reply yankee.yes,i do have lower back pain i would say above the tailbone, actually, about the waist area.not all the time though, and as i mentioned, the nerves feel like theyre vibrating thru my legs and feet when i twist at the hips or rub the area in the back around the waist, that has me puzzled.pain in feet is mostly upon walking,in the ankles i would say,and at times they feel weak.being an expert on googling physical symptoms, most websites on sciatica say the pain "can" be felt in the feet.but do you feel the pain when walking?i have the classic sciatica symptoms-burning sensation down back of leg, i also feel pain behind the knees at times, and on the outside of the knees, its a nerve pain, not a joint pain.
well,i could write a thousand paragraphs to bore the hell out of anyone reading this on all the crap i been thru the past year, this is another hurdle for me to leap LOL.i am a bit of a hypochondriac. but i dont think stress and anxiety can produce symptoms like these. THX FOR REPLYING
