pain on the left side bottom of rib cage

I have pain on my left side - it doesn't happen very often. It starts when I go to the bathroom - it is very painful almost like a spasm. It hurts for a few days and it goes away. Is it my pancreas?

Can you be more specific? What does the pain feel like? Does it occur with urinating or having a bowel movement? Where exactly is it located? It is impossible to tell if it is your pancreas, or otherwise diagnosis the pain without a physical examination and knowing more details. There are many, many things it could be.
