I am a 22 year old woman who suffers from Panic Disorder and have recently weaned off my Zoloft medication to pursue just cognitive therapy. This "feeling" started as soon as I began to wean off the meds and hasn't stopped for 3 weeks after ending the medication entirely. This potential symptom or this "feeling" is a weird sensation that occurs every so often ranging from 5 times a minute to 2 times an hour. I get this not quite popping but pressure primarily in my ears that feels like the feeling you get in your ears and head when you are in the process of yawning. That almost lightheaded, air trapped in my skull feeling that sometimes feels as though it is not just in my ears, but in my head and body as well. And when it occurs it seems as though even my heart doesn't beat. Like maybe I only feel it in my ears because the pressure that has to escape from my head then escapes through my ears. Again, to best describe this feeling that I feel daily and that is almost impossible to ignore: a yawn-like sensation w/out yawning that creates a pressure in my ears that directly affects (at that very moment) my ability to hear (be aware) and see as sufficiently and leaves me feeling lightheaded and all kinds of spacey. And sometimes as well, I feel a light pressure on the sides of my head, like someone is pressing onto my skull slightly. I was wondering if ya'll had any ideas or could help me to assume that it is a not so important withdrawal side effect from tapering off of Zoloft. Or is it something else? I have talked to my doctor and conducted my own research and haven't really gotten the clearest or insightful information out of either source. Thank you for your time.

Hi,

You could have otitis or fluid in the middle ear. Go see a physician for examination. If it is fluid in your middle ear, he will give u an antihistamine and possibly an antibiotic. It should clear up.
