I'm currently prescribed on Ritalin (3 10mg tablets, PO, tid) however I am terminally ill, and my health has finally declined to the point where my body cannot absorb any of my medications. (Not only just Ritalin, however everything else I'm getting IV now).

Is it possible to get Ritalin in IV form as well? To function as I used to before my body became unable to absorb it, my only option at this point has been to (and you needn't inform me how dangerous and damaging this is, as is why I am desperate to find out if I have any other options) dissolve, filter and inject my medication on my own.

My current physician is at a loss as of what to do about this situation, so far she hasn't heard of any manufacturers that make methylphenidate in IV form.. >.<

Amphetamine based ADD/ADHD medications have never been formulated for intraveinos use - nor will they ever as far as I can predict. The drugs are moving AWAY from direct methods of introduction into the system, not towards them, thus the Pro-Drug of dextroamphetamine, Vyvanse, which cannot be snorted or injected by abusers.
The honest truth my friend is that if you are to a point of receiving all medications IV, you should not be on a stimulant any longer. They take a heavy toll on the body, and your doctor should realize that.

I will, on a less down note say that perhaps, given stimulant medications' regular dosage adjustments required to combat tollerance, perhaps you simply need an increase in dosage. If you now take 30mg a day of Ritalin, 50mg would be a good choice instead. Best I think though would be to switch from methlyphenidate to a less altered amphetamine based drug - Adderall XR, 60mg (40 / 20 mg a day, morning, noon) should be adequate, but up to a total of 75 is not unheard of...

What other medications are you taking? They may also interact...
