my husband was born with no joints in his thumbs now i'm 8 months pregnant and their telling us our baby could be born this way my question is what is the medical term for it they seem to not to be able to tell us.

You may want to do a search on Apert Syndrome. It can cause fused fingers and has the potential to be pased on to children. Good luck!
