Yesterday at work, a patient had an open safety pin attached to a heater pad in a bag. When I went to pick up his bag, the safety pin pricked me in the quad. There was no blood drawn to the surface, but I can definitely see redness underneath. How likely is it for a disease to be spread this way? The nurses I work with said don't worry about it, but I am. The needle did not appear to be dirty. The patient was a ninety-one-year old male in the hospital for CHF. I am freaking out. ???
