??? I have recently experienced a tremendous amount of patchy hair loss and over all thinning. Received a diagnosis of alopecia areata and I accepted that diagnosis until one week later a co-worker revealed her hair loss also. It was like looking at a mirror image.
She had the same symptoms of tremendous amount of hair thinning, which then turned to small patch of hair loss ,then to large patches of hair loss. The company owner was made aware of the problem and is attempting to resolve the issue by consulting with an industrial medicine specialist. However, in the meantime, not only my co-worker and myself are continuing amazing amount of hair loss, but another co-worker has complained with losing alot of hair (plugging the shower drain). The company owner has reassured us that he has spoken with a specialist and there is no reason for this to be happening -- Help !!!!! I can't convince the dermatologist that I don't have alopecia areata -- yes, I do have the symptoms and the areas are like textbook description and pictures; however, I do not accept that as an explanation for this problem. Any advice as who to see regarding this problem - a specialist - anyone at all. I am desperate. I NEED ANSWERS AND QUICK BEFORE I GO BALD !!!!!!

hi rose
iam very sorry about your hair loss problem, i too have hair loss (more than half is gone)
not in patch's, just thinning out.
my loss is do to bad diet, and stress and ect... i don't have any answer
for your problem.
iam putting in my two cents, on what i hav found to some what slow down the loss of hair.
i stoped wearing my rollers over night, when using hair gels and sprays just one or two pumps hardley any and only when nessary, no rubber bands or scunch's or rolling my hair in a tight bunn, (i used a head band to keep my hair out of my face),
and most important things that have helped... are brushing hair by hand (run your fingers through) i used a brush rarely, and when washing your hair use conditioner (good amount) and brush it throught so conditioner is evenly through out your entire hair. leave on the time suggested. rise it with warm not hot water, it will fill like silk and tangle less, and as for blowdryers i rarely use, but i do my hair is damp not wet, and only only dry the roots, (qiuckly) also the minimizing your scralp to different exposer
such as salt water or chlorine and the sun baking your scalp or cold and damp then inside your house is the dry hot air from the house heater or working up a sweat outside moist scalp and dirt/dust (in the air) clogging your scalp up. sweating in a baseball cape that has not been wash reglarly ( always do two rinse cycles for ball caps). i hope i help a lil bit, as for
me i went from a fat pillow sandwich ziplock bag full of hair (every two weeks) to 3 gabbs of hair balls. well iam looking on the brite side of my hair loss 30 to 35 rollers to now which is 16 rollers, my lil bit hair sets in an hour opposed to 8 hours ( stillpassed my waist the lenght) like before.
good luck to you, please take care....
