For the past year or so I have been having extremely severe muscle spasms in the inside of my upper thighs(Is that considered the groin area?) They are getting more severe and seem to be coming a little more often. It usually always happens late in the evening when I am just relaxing in my recliner chair with my feet up. Five years ago I had gastric bypass surgery (Roux n Y). Lately I have been trying to take a lot more vitamins and supplements like calcium, magnesium, Taurine and eating more bananas for potassium (potassium pills give me diarrhea). When I had my gastric bypass surgery It was discovered I had cirhossis of the liver. I feel pretty good and lead a good life except for the severe cramps which make me jump up and run screaming through the house. It leaves my legs very sore for days and even weeks after. Is it the cirrhosis that is causing the spasms or something else? I am going crazy and becoming very paranoid that I am always going to get one every time I sit down. What else can I take to eleviate the onset of these spasms? The doctor gave me a muscle relaxant but I feel that is just like putting on a bandaid. The relaxants made me very nervous and made my legs restless even when I only took one early in the evening. I then tried cutting them in half but it was the same so I stopped taking the relaxants. I also get a lot of cramps in my ankles, feet etc, but they seem like nothing compared to the super painful thigh spasms. I hope someone can help me.
Thank you!!
