Hi,
I am a 46-year-old female who prior to this year was in very good health. For most of this year I have been suffering from constant severe fatigue, extreme night sweats (I literally have to get up and change in the middle of the night because my pajamas are soaked through), low body temperatures (as low as 95.3, but normally approximately 97.6), chills, but at same time sweating, muscle aches, pains and cramping, blurry and double vision (check with ophthalmologist who found nothing wrong with eyes), periodic involuntary muscle movements (mainly legs, hands and face, eye lid twitching often), mid back pain, low blood pressure (usually runs 110/70), unable to exercise due to extreme fatigue and pain for days after (used to exercise for up to 2 hours a day), weight gain (gained almost 40 pounds in a year, although not totally unexplained as I have developed a periodic major craving for sugar). My menstrual cycles are still normal.
This year has been extremely stressful. (father died, daughter had to have major back surgery, major stress at work).
My doctor has run extensive lab work which has shown:
ANA titer 1:320 (ran twice, a month apart) negative for rheumatoid arthritis
A.M. Cortisol 3.7
All other values are within normal range (including thyroid panel, prolactin, protein electrophoresis, hematology, chemistry and cholesterol, which is low at 129).
I had an MRI of the brain with and without contrast yesterday and am awaiting the results.
I am extremely concerned about the numerous symptoms, that seem to be getting worse. I am so tired. I do have an appointment for an endocrinology consult next week, but looking for some idea about what might possibly be going on.
Any ideas?
Thank you very much,
Kath
