clavicle surgery

I was thrown from my horse in July. I did not break my clavicle, but was told it was dislocated. It sitcks out next to my neck and causes me discomfort when I swallow. You can see it move in and out. My ortho surgeon wants to cut about an inch off. Is this normal or is there a better way to put it back in place and keep it there?

If that's what your ortho-surgeon told you then it would be the best way to cure it. It was dislocated to the chances of turning it back is big so you don't have to worry about your clavicle.
