My mother is still having periods at 58 years old. Is this normal? Sometimes her periods last a month. Her doctor says that nothing is wrong, but I have suggested she change the doctor that she has had for 30 years, but she refuses. Could there be a problem with her having a period for so long and so heavy and at this age? She has also gone through menapause, or still going through it.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

I do know some woman do have periods in there fifties but usually irregular and sometimes heavy then light. But I think having bleeding for a month and if the amount is alot I would be worried. Has she been seen by a gyn and examined. If not she needs to be to be sure nothing eles is wrong.
